INDIVIDUAL THERAPY:

Give Yourself  Some Undivided Attention

In individual therapy we spend time exploring your challenges and identifying your strengths. We join forces to support changes in your desired areas.

Common Questions:

How Long are sessions?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes, weekly.  I offer longer and shorter sessions as needed.

How often do we need to meet?
I suggest weekly meetings because they allow us the time needed for us to connect, and the opportunity for meaningful change. We can discuss if it would be helpful to modify the length of your sessions or the frequency of meetings.

I have a lot going on.  I don’t know where to start.

What you want to share is up to you. When you want to share is up to you. Therapy is your time. I will use my clinical expertise to guide the process and to align our conversations with your goals and needs.

What's the first meeting like?

Our first meeting will include me telling you a bit about my practice and how I work. You can ask me any questions. I will ask you some biographical questions to start to get a sense of your background. We will begin to talk about the issues that bring you to therapy, and discuss any goals you have.

*Everyone* is at least a little bit nervous to meet a new therapist. And every therapist I know also feels a little nervous when meeting a new client. This includes me; I also tend to feel excited. I try to normalize any first-session jitters and put you at ease.
Come as you are! There’s no wrong way for you to do it.

How long will I go for?

The number of sessions varies, and ultimately it's your decision. If clients are seeking brief treatment, when appropriate we can explore techniques grounded in brief therapy approaches. For others, therapy takes more time. It depends on the nature of the challenges you're working with and what you want out of the process. I am happy to discuss your expectations or questions at any time.

Finding the right therapist for you is important.  Send me an email or note here, or leave me a voicemail.  I'll get back to you and we can schedule  a free consult/ chat or a first session.
